MegaFon looks to Nokia for expansion

GSM operator MegaFon has contracted Nokia for the expansion of its network in a deal worth USD350 million. The Finnish vendor will supply GSM/GPRS core and radio equipment to help the cellco keep pace with its rapidly expanding subscriber base. The deal includes the supply of Nokia’s NetAct OSS platform, which will provide support for the introduction of new technologies including EDGE and CDMA.
