The chairman of Malaysia’s largest cellco Maxis Communications told reporters yesterday that his company would be actively pursuing investment opportunities within the Asia-Pacific region over the next two years. Speaking at Maxis’ annual shareholders meeting, Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor said his board had highlighted India and Indonesia as possible target markets. Although he refused to be drawn into naming any existing operators in those countries which Maxis might be preparing to table a bid for, he did say that his company would be looking to secure management control of any future investments.
