FT ordered to compensate Tele2

2 Jun 2004

The Paris Commercial Court for Unfair Competition has ordered France Télécom to pay rival service provider Tele2 of Sweden EUR15 million in compensation for illegally targeting ex-directory customers with its marketing. Tele2 filed the case in August 2003, highlighting the fact that ex-monopoly service provider France Télécom has exclusive access to ex-directory potential customers – seen as a highly valuable commodity in France’s increasingly competitive market. Several other charges brought by Tele2 were dismissed by the court.
