Embratel aims to double customer base by December

27 May 2004

Brazilian fixed line telco Embratel has announced plans to nearly double its local customer base to over a million by the end of 2004. The operator, which initially provided international services only, entered the local market when it took control of fixed wireless operator Vesper, which won concessions in 1999 to provide wireline telephony in Regions I and III. Embratel dropped the Vesper brand in January, providing new fixed wireless products under its Embratel Livre brand.
