Montreal-based SR Telecom says it has signed contracts worth more than USD32.5 million to supply equipment in South America and Burkina Faso. The equipment manufacturer has been selected by an undisclosed South American telecoms service provider to deploy its Airstar broadband fixed wireless access (FWA) network in 20 cities, with delivery expected to begin immediately. The value of the three-year deal is estimated at USD27 million. Meanwhile, SR Telecom has also inked a USD5.5 million agreement with Office Nationale des Telecommunications (ONATEL), the national exchange carrier in Burkina Faso, for the second phase of its ‘urban telecommunications project’.
