Pelephone awards Nortel 3G contract

CDMA-based network operator Pelephone has awarded Nortel Networks a two year deal for the exclusive provision of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network equipment. The first phase of network deployment is planned for the central part of Israel by August 2004, with coverage of the rest of the country expected by the end of the year. The network upgrades will allow Pelephone to offer wireless data services including personalised video downloads and streaming, while business customers will be offered secure intranet access and other mobile office applications.
