Vodafone Malta has begun installation of a high-capacity fibre-optic submarine cable between Malta and Sicily. The 250km link is being built by French company Alcatel and will have an initial capacity of 2.5Gbps, rising to 1 Terabit per second over time. It will serve as Malta’s second international gateway.
