Two Telekoms sign pact

PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia and Telekom Malaysia have signed a USD8.7 million agreement to buiild a 160km submarine cable connecting Dumai in Indonesia with the Malaysian city of Malacca. The Dumai-Malacca Cable System (DMCS), as the project has been named, will have an initial transmission capacity of 20Gbps, rising to 320Gbps in time. It will be built by a consortium that includes Japanese equipment manufacturer NEC.
