Sonatel to expand fixed wireless access for rural areas

Senegalese PTO Sonatel has contracted Canadian vendor SR Telecom to provide it with a fixed wireless access system for its rural telephony project. The deal, valued at USD13 million, will see SR Telecom expanding Sonatel’s SR500 high-capacity point-to-multipoint fixed wireless network to more than 650 villages, providing voice, fax and internet services to previously unreachable areas.
