11 May 2004

Israeli mobile service provider Cellcom has awarded a contract to Finland’s Nokia for the delivery and installation of a third-generation (3G) W-CDMA network covering Sharon, a coastal region north of Tel- Aviv. Under the deal Nokia will supply a complete 3G system, including core and radio access networks, with deliveries scheduled to begin immediately. The Finnish company, which is already Cellcom’s sole supplier of GSM, GPRS and EDGE network equipment, will also provide a raft of managed services for a period of one year.
