Kenyan cellco Safaricom has launched a pre-paid roaming service over its GSM network, enabling subscribers to use their mobile phones abroad. The cellco has already entered into a roaming agreement with South Africa’s leading mobile operator Vodacom and hopes to strike similar deals with other companies across the region. Safaricom said that customers wishing to subscribe to the new service will be required to change their price package to its ‘traveller’ tariff .
