Telkomsel bottom line improves

Indonesia’s largest cellular operator PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) has reported a 52% increase in 2003 net profit to IDR4.24 trillion. The growth was achieved on the back of a 60% hike in customers; at the end of the year Telkomsel’s subscriber base stood at 9.6 million, roughly 51% of the market. During 2003 Telkomsel, a joint venture between fixed line incumbent Telkom and Singapore Telecom, invested USD620 million in its network.
