CMHK forecasts 4.7% rise in profit for Q1

China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK), the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, has forecast growth of 4.7% for its first quarter profit, on the back of claims that it signed up a record number of new customers during the first three months of the year. The operator expects net income to reach JPY9.4 billion (USD1.1 billion) for the quarter, and sales to rise by around 13% to JPY42.6 billion. At the end of February the cellco claimed a customer base of 147.2 million, having added 5.5 million in the first two months of the year. It is due to release its official results later today.
