Telekom Malaysia has said that it has signed agreements with 15 telcos to establish a new USD500 million submarine cable called SEA-ME-WE-4. When completed in the third quarter of 2005, the new 20,000km fibre-optic link will have landing stations in Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, France, India, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates. Alcatel of France and Japan’s Fujitsu have been contracted to roll out the cable.
