AirTel to expand coverage to all 23 circles

Indian cellco Aircel is set to become the first GSM operator to provide mobile services to all of the country’s 23 telecoms circles, expanding its presence from 15 circles and setting up 500 sites in its new operating areas. The cellco, which claimed around 6.5 million subscribers at the end of 2003, said it hopes to connect over 200 new towns in the eastern states of the country by 2005.
