Cégétel merger brought to a standstill

Vivendi Universal subsidiary Cégétel has announced that it has stopped talks over the possible merger of its fixed line operations, putting an end to rumours that is was involved in discussions with a number of rival operators, including 9 Télécom, Completel, Free, Tele2 and Tiscali. The telco revealed today that all negotiations have been put on hold, and that the deal is ‘far from reaching a conclusion’.
