Atheer awards Fastlink management contract

Atheer Telecommunications has awarded Jordanian telco Fastlink a contract to operate and manage its network; previously the contract had been given to Kuwait-based MTC Vodafone. Atheer’s strategy includes extending its coverage from the southern Iraqi borders with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to the central area of the country, including the cities of Basra, Um Qasr, Safwan and Samawah. It hopes to have capacity for 300,000 customers by the end of 2005.
