26 Mar 2004

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has recommended that mobile operators reduce the cost of calls terminating on their networks. According to ACCC commissioner, the agencies’ investigations suggest that current charges are at least twice the cost of delivering the service. It has ruled that price of mobile termination drop to twelve cents per minute by January 2007. The first price falls will be implemented on 1 July, when the tariff will be reduced to 21 cents per minute. Further reductions of three cents per minute will be made on 1 January 2005, 2006 and 2007.
