BT bags big bank deal

The UK’s dominant telco BT Group has been awarded a seven-year contract valued at GBP101 million by the Bank of Ireland to provide network management and disaster recovery services. BT says that it will use multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) technology to deliver the contract, which covers all of the bank’s voice, data and internet requirements. MPLS is a standards-approved technology used for speeding up network traffic flow and making it easier to manage.
