Lucent bags WiLL deal

Uzbektelecom has awarded Lucent Technologies and Japanese trading house Marubeni a contract to deploy a wireless in the local loop (WiLL) network for the western part of Uzbekistan. Under a subcontracting agreement with Marubeni, Lucent will supply Uzbektelecom with equipment based on its cdma2000 1X solution for the 450MHz spectrum band. The network will provide access to high quality voice and high speed data services at speeds of up to 153kbps.
