Sweden to become first country to offer nationwide 3G

16 Mar 2004

TeliaSonera Sweden launched its 3G network this week, revealing plans to roll out 3G services on a nationwide basis, a move which will make Sweden the first country in the world to be able to offer this service. The operator will introduce a variety of new 3G handsets, as well as a wide range of new services for data, e-mail, mobile internet, MMS and streaming video applications. TeliaSonera’s 3G network already covers 75% of the Swedish population, and 96% of municipalities.
