Gloves off for Vodafone price war

15 Mar 2004

Australian cellco Vodafone has revealed plans to unleash a price war in the country’s mobile phone market, which may see the cost of calls lowered to that of local fixed line calls. The news has come as a shock to Vodafone’s rivals Telstra and SingTel Optus, which are unlikely to be able to match the cheaper prices offered by Vodafone. The country’s number three operator plans to launch its aggressive scheme next month.
