Chile hails 6,000 payphones in ten years

The Chilean Fund for Telecoms Development, FDT, says it has installed 6,059 public payphones in rural parts of the country in its ten years of operation, bringing telephone access to an estimated 2.2 million people. In addition, FDT’s 168 internet centres have now logged a total of 160,000 hours online.
