Police to step-up mobile phone ban

9 Mar 2004

Following the results of a study conducted by the Green Flag Motoring Organisation, which revealed that one in ten drivers in the UK were continuing to use their mobile phones while at the wheel, police forces up and down the country have announced plans to be ‘more robust’ when dealing with this type of offence. When the new law banning the use of mobile phones while driving was implemented in December, drivers were afforded a two-month period of leniency. However, this period is now up and local constabularies claim that offenders will be penalised in the future.
