Trunking operator Avantel reports 64% rise in sales

Colombia’s Avantel has said that net revenues rose by 64.8% from COP98.4 billion to COP162 billion in 2003, aided by a 22.7% rise in customer numbers; EBITDA rose by 56%. In 2003 the telco introduced several new products including Avantrak location-based services and pre-paid services, and extended the reach of its network. It plans to invest USD67 million in 2004 on further upgrade and expansion works to boost subscriber numbers by a third.
