Nortel awarded VoIP contracts

4 Mar 2004

Two of Spanish incumbent Telefónica’s Puerto Rican subsidiaries, TData and Telefónica Larga Distancia (TLD), have contracted Canada’s Nortel Networks to roll out VoIP networks to converge their local, long-distance and data transmission services. The IP-based packet switched network will allow voice, data and multimedia traffic to run over a single broadband system, rather than, as it does now, over separate networks.
