3 Mar 2004

Ecuador’s president Lucio Gutierrez has ordered state-owned holding company Fondo de Solidaridad (FS) to replace all of the high ranking executives at its 29 divisions – including fixed line telcos Andinatel and Pacifictel, and cellco Telecsa – in a bid to cut down on corruption. Gutierrez wants FS to have replaced around 100 employees with professionals free of political links within the next ten days; FS started receiving applications from prospective candidates on Sunday.
