24 Feb 2004

Canada’s Nortel Networks has been awarded a contract worth around USD45 million to expand China Mobile’s GSM network in Hebei province. The deal is expected to increase Hebei Mobile’s subscriber capacity by around 880,000 and facilitate the introduction of a number of advanced wireless services. Nortel built Hebei’s first GSM network in 1995 and has since deployed infrastructure in 17 of China’s 31 provinces and municipalities.
