Tele2 France hopes to become MVNO

20 Feb 2004

Tele2 France has revealed that it hopes to transform itself into a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) by April 2005, should the opportunity arise. If the operator gains approval to do so, it will offer customers simpler and cheaper packages than the existing cellcos. The regulator, the ART, has previously said that French law did not allow the launch of MVNO services, but Tele2 expects this decision to change in the near future as the ART embarks on a scheme to improve mobile penetration in the country in accordance with EU regulation.
