CTBC sets June as date for DLD service launch

20 Feb 2004

Brazilian telecoms service provider CTBC says it hopes to launch national long-distance services in June, subject to receiving authorisation from the regulator Anatel next week, and provided it completes the necessary co-billing and interconnection agreements. If negotiations are protracted, the operator may opt to roll out services gradually, but it has not defined any targets in terms of market share for the new services. CTBC will most likely look to upsale to its existing 2,500-strong corporate client base, offering them access to a full suite of telecoms products. The telco currently has an 87% share of the DLD sector for calls originating and terminating within its concession area covering parts of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goias states.
