Malaysia’s communications minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho has announced that Maxis Communications will become the country’s second operator to launch 3G services when it rolls out its UMTS network in August; Telekom Malaysia launched 3G last month. Maxis, through its subsidiary UMTS (Malaysia), was awarded a 3G licence in July 2002.
