Golden Telecom goes Czech to gain control of Samara-Telecom

Russian alternative fixed and cellular services provider Golden Telecom says it has inked a USD4.8 million deal to acquire 100% of Czech ST-Holding, which itself owns more than 50% of Samara-Telecom, a voice, internet and data communications provider based in the city of Samara approximately 800km southeast of Moscow. The operator has around 100,000 subscriber lines in its franchise area, putting it ahead of SMARTS, Megafon and BEEline which between them manage around 57,000 lines.
