Ziggy dismisses job loss fears

Telstra chief executive Ziggy Switkowski has denied suggestions that Australian jobs would be lost as part of the company’s plans to create more jobs offshore, following strident criticism from the federal government. The Australian PTO recently unveiled plans to outsource 450 technology jobs to India leading to instant alarm at home, however, Dr Switkowski said there had been a misunderstanding and that his company was ‘not sending any jobs offshore’. When pressed as to whether that meant that ‘no Australian Telstra worker would lose their job to a position overseas’, he answered categorically in the affirmative.
