Hutchison to upgrade Orange network

Hutchison Telecom has announced plans to upgrade its Orange base stations in Sydney and Melbourne to 1xRTT technology, providing faster services for customers. The company has contracted Samsung to carry out the process for USD30 million, and hopes to have completed it by April or May. Hutchison said a complete upgrade of the Orange network could take place within the next few years if demand is strong.
