The Nicaraguan government has confirmed that Mexican telco América Móvil has triumphed in the auction for the state’s 49% stake in monopoly fixed line operator Enitel. América Móvil’s only other potential rival for the stake, Megatel, did not try to better the telco’s offer of USD49.6 million and has said it is content with the 40% of Enitel it already owns.
