BT workers threaten strikes

19 Jan 2004

BT staff are pressing the Communication Workers Union (CWU), to hold a ballot for industrial action after being offered just a GBP100 increase in the cost of living allowance. Talks between BT and the union will be held next month, with workers pushing for a GBP2,600 – GBP4,000 rise in Central London and GBP1,128 – GBP2,400 in Greater London. CWU members have threatened BT with industrial action should the company fail to meet their demands.
