3G services available, but only if you import your own phone and don’t mind poor reception

Germany’s dominant wireless carrier T-Mobile yesterday announced that its 3G network was operational, but then said that any of its 26 million customers who wanted to test the new services would have to import a 3G-enabled handset from abroad due to the lack of availability in Germany. T-Mobile also added that it could not guarantee the quality of services over the new network until services are launched on a commercial basis later in 2004.
