MTPT to transfer Slovak Telecom stake

15 Jan 2004

Slovakia’s Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications (MTPT) has revealed plans to transfer its 34% stake in the country’s dominant fixed line operator Slovenske Telekomunikacie (Slovak Telecom) to the Economy Ministry or the National Property Fund (FNM). The Ministry announced the plans after the EU stated that it should not hold stakes in Slovak Telecom and the market regulator the TU-SR. It has not released any information on when the shift will take place.
