Lucent wins contract double

Lucent Technologies has announced that it has won a pair of contracts from China Unicom and China Telecom worth in excess of USD350 million. Under the terms of the Unicom deal, Lucent will provide support for the company’s third phase of network expansion, which will see it increase network capacity to 50 million. Lucent will also supply a multi-service Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) solution for Unicom’s data backbone. Meanwhile China Telecom has contracted Lucent to supply a VoIP solution as well as a Personal Handyphone System.
