Six million handsets sold in 2003

According to figures released by the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, six million mobile handsets were sold down under in 2003, two million of which were to new users. Nokia took the lion’s share of sales, accounting for 3.7 million phones or 65% of the total. Motorola claimed second place with an 11% share, followed by Siemens, Samsung and Panasonic, each with around 5% of the market.
