According to the Financial Times, fixed line behemoth China Telecom has entered into a strategic alliance with leading Chinese personal computer manufacturer the Legend Group to jointly develop and cooperate on the promotion of products and services. The move comes as part of a wider industry trend to capitalise on the need for ever greater integration of electronic devices and telecoms services in the delivery of state-of-the-art multimedia content to the home user. Mary Ma, chief financial officer for the Legend Group, said that under the new set-up her company would install links to China Telecom‘s media content on all newly-shipped computers with the aim of making it easier for subscribers to the telco’s ADSL broadband service to access audio and video downloads. In addition, Legend’s service support unit, Sunny Information Technology Service, will provide customer support services for China Telecom’s broadband users.
