Free Wi-Fi from BT

6 Jan 2004

BT has announced that it will offer free Wi-Fi access to its customers during the last week of January as part of a plan to encourage take-up of the service. The telco, which offers Wi-Fi under the banner Openzone, said it hopes to expand its 1,700 hotspots to 4,000 by the summer. In addition to the free access BT has also reduced the cost of its Openzone-in-a-Box service – which includes all the technology needed to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot – from GBP400 to GBP250 and has introduced a pay-as-you-go Openzone offering aimed at users who want to be billed per minute.
