Telstra claims that it increased its total number of Australian mobile base stations by 18% in 2003, installing 1,080 units during the course of the year to take its total to 7,157. The telco said that more than half of the new additions were in rural and regional areas and its CDMA network now covers more than 98% of the country’s population. Telstra plans to install a further 200 base stations in the first half of 2004.
