Telefónica targets ADSL growth

Spanish telecoms heavyweight Telefónica says it hopes to sign up six million ADSL users worldwide by the end of 2005 and sees the technology as a key driver of future growth. Although it has not disclosed figures for its international DSL base, the company had 1.65 million users in Spain at the end of 2003, up 72% year-on-year. To date it has invested EUR2 billion on its domestic ADSL operations.
