Telus predicts rise in profit for 2004

Canadian telco Telus Corp expects its profit to rise by the end of next year, thanks to higher sales at its wireless unit. The company said it expects its net income to rise to CAD1.05 a share on the back of a 5% hike in sales to CAD7.45 billion. Wireless sales are expected to rise 15% in 2004 to CAD2.7 billion, and the company hopes to add up to 425,000 cellular subscribers; local and long-distance revenues are expected to remain static. Telus expects sales to rise by around 2.7% in 2003, with revenues forecast at CAD7.1 billion.
