The Irish government has approved a plan to invest a further EUR105 million on developing the country’s broadband infrastructure and hopes to cover more than 80 towns and 350,000 inhabitants by 2007, according to the Irish Independent. The investment bolsters the total sum committed on the Broadband Investment Plan to EUR140 million over the period 2004/07 which will target communities with more than 1,500 people. According to ComReg, Ireland was home to 13,350 broadband users at the end of last month, up from 7,350 three months earlier.
