Alcatel wins CDMA and GSM contracts

French equipment supplier Alcatel, through its Chinese venture Alcatel Shanghai Bell, has won a series of contracts worth a total of USD40 million from Chinese operator China Unicom. Under the terms of the deals, Alcatel will expand China Unicom’s CDMA network in Shanghai, Hebei and Tianjin, as well as providing CDMA solutions to expand the networks in ten provinces and cities. It will also supply its Evolium global GSM solutions to the telco’s GSM networks in 13 provinces.
