Telecom NZ to merge Australian units

9 Dec 2003

Telecom New Zealand has announced that it is to merge its two Australian operating units, TCNZA and AAPT, in a bid to reduce confusion and ‘present a clearer position’ to its corporate customers. The telco said that the merger was not a cost cutting move, although there would be some redundancies amongst its 1,200-strong Australian workforce. It will also be closing three of the subsidiary’s five operating locations.
