Nortel chief sees brighter times ahead

8 Dec 2003

Frank Dunn, the chief executive of Canadian equipment manufacturer Nortel Networks, has said that he believes spending on telecoms infrastructure by operators will grow in 2004, but that the sector cannot possibly return to the ‘unsustainable’ spending levels of 1999 and 2000. Dunn said his company’s wireless and wireline divisions should benefit the most in the short term, thanks to the increasing demand for both third-generation mobile and voice-over-IP (VoIP) network infrastructure.
