KDDI’s new 3G network launch hindered by handset software glitches

2 Dec 2003

Japan’s second largest telco KDDI Corp has suspended sales of its new 3G handsets just four days after its mobile unit au launched its 3G network, due to glitches with the operating software. As of Monday KDDI had sold around 7,200 of the Hitachi handsets, but problems with software downloads and data storage have meant that the telco has taken the phones off the shelves. It aims to have the problem resolved in time to resume sales on 8 December.
